| I'm surprised this Spies Like Us film is not rated higher. No, not "Lawrence of Arabia", but not all films have to be "artistically respectable." Just look at the names of the two main characters, Emmett Fitz-Hume and Austin Milbarge, and you know what you're in for. Chase and Aykroyd are hilarious and this Spies Like Us film is a laugh a minute. Yes, there are silly jokes, slapstick humor, bizarre and ridiculous scenarios cameos (doctor? Medical ?)... But that's what it's great, you just turn off your brain and is in I've seen this film: Spies Like Us a hundred times and could see a hundred more, I think it is one of those "in love, or hate things. But "mock what we do not understand." |
| When Ackroyd and Chase are about to leave the woman and the agent to return to the U.S.. What makes this enormous over the top of American patriotic speech to convince them to go to catch the rocket and make sure that your partner did not die in vain. She is what President Kennedy said about "what you can do for your country", etc ... and how the need to preserve the American way of life ... I see many similarities with the Three Stooges, 3 Stooges i see all the time and it seemed like the Three Stooges W / O all slap stick. if you ever watched the 3 Stooges, I bet you know about the noise when they do get scared ... the neyah ah ah ah "and they did when they were fleeing Arabs hesitate. but also made other things, like pretending to be doctors, which The Stooges done. as when he had to "shave" the patient ... which literally started shaving the beard of the man .... |
| Dan Ackroyd stars as a typical CIA think-tank analyst and intelligence Chevy Chase is our response to the inept, stupid, lazy and clumsy agent that even pass the first interview in the real world of espionage. These two collide (comically) with each other in a complex scheme orchestrated by the military and rebels civillians which are used as a "distraction" from the real mission. Ackroyd leadership allows them to survive to complete their mission, while the prurient Chase spends most of his time thinking like a typical male. When they find a Soviet mobile missile launcher, and then receive instructions from their rebel controllers "mistake" to send the things in it as a target in the U.S., only the speed of thought can Ackroyd save the day. This Spies Like Us Comedy film has some very funny and good action scenes with decent stunts. Chevy Chase is still entertained by his gentle, intelligent (which only acts stupid) and sexy character who became famous in other roles. Dan Ackroyd is great as the man who keeps a straight Chevy problems. Add this to your collection of DVD movies in the comedy section of your platform! |
| For fans of Chevy Chase, the Spies Like Us Comedy shows one of his classics --- shows up there with a couple of their "holiday" and the films "fletch. He and Dan Aykroyd is a great comedy duo with great chemistry that will leave you wanting more. The setting changes rapidly DC, Pakistan, the former Soviet Union. Chase and Aykroyd consumables are identified as staff of the Department of State, and, therefore, was formed as an undercover agent from the task of decoys and an ultra-top secret mission deep into Soviet territory. The newly appointed agent / spies do not realize they are decoys, but rather think they are real actors in a real mission. Good stuff. Together, their antics Bumbling Staff training and top-secret mission are good for constant laughter from start to finish, since they are playing the "accidental hero" role in charge of saving the world. Very picturesque, some decent special effects (for the mid-80's) and some serious plot-twists in the middle of the silly humor allows "Spies like us" to keep the viewer's attention in situations of comedy. |
